Floridian Elevators's video: Vintage 1974 Otis Lexan Traction Elevators at The Travelodge Hotel Convention Centre in Quebec QC

@Vintage 1974 Otis Lexan Traction Elevators at The Travelodge Hotel & Convention Centre in Quebec, QC
Filmed on April 9th, 2022. I know what's probably going through your head right now..... "A TRAVELODGE WITH AN ELEVATOR AND A TRAVELODGE THAT'S 12 FLOORS!?!?!? OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT EXISTS!!!! I THINK I MAY BE HIGH ON SOMETHING!!!!" Ok, Well, let me first say you aren't high on anything, this 12 story Travelodge Hotel is VERY REAL and not only is it 12 floors with elevators, but it is NOT in ANYWAY your typical Travelodge, and in a good way! This hotel was originally built in 1966 as a 2 story Motor Inn, and expanded heavily in 1974 when the Tower that houses the elevators was added and before being a Travelodge, was actually a Clarion Hotel! (I didn't think 12 story Clarions existed either....) Things have changed at this hotel over the years however, and This Hotel despite it's brand name being one associated with Crappy Budget Motels features a FUNCTIONAL Convention Center, Onsite Restaurants, a Recently Added Indoor Pool (the old Outdoor Pool is now a strange looking Courtyard) and recently renovated Guest Rooms & Suites as well as Nice looking Hallways & Corridors, looking more so like something you'd see in a 3 or 4 star hotel as opposed to a Travelodge! Not to mention, unlike most Travelodge properties, this Hotel actually gets solid reviews online too! Despite all of the recent renovations and features and amenities this Hotel has to offer however, the elevators still remain completely original from 1974, and they're pretty nice ones too! They are a bit slow, and the cabs could look a bit nicer, but these elevators are still pretty nice (ESPECIALLY considering this is a TRAVELODGE), the Lexan fixtures are in EXCELLENT Condition, and the elevators as a whole are too (minus parts of the ceiling tiles missing)!!! Very smooth and quiet and they run like a dream! The Service Elevator on the far left was EVEN BETTER, it has it's original cab STRAIGHT out of the 70s, these UNIQUE Metal Open & Close Buttons as opposed to Black Buttons, and it actually goes a bit faster than the Main Elevators! (This was something I noticed in several hotels in Quebec, I wonder why this is...) These aren't the funnest Lexans I saw in Quebec, but they're still great ones nonetheless, they run BEAUTIFULLY, and not at all something you see too often in either a Budget Motel property or a Big Convention Centre Hotel like this one! All in all, this was a BEAUTIFUL & VERY NICE Set of Elevators in Pretty good Condition in what is actually a Pretty Nice Hotel despite it's brand name! And with that, I hope you enjoy the video, and let me know what you think in the comments below! Installed in 1974.
