Floridian Elevators's video: HISTORIC 1950s Otis Autotronic Traffic Timed Elevators at The City Club Building in Cleveland OH

@HISTORIC 1950s Otis Autotronic Traffic Timed Elevators at The City Club Building in Cleveland, OH
Filmed on October 25th, 2023 & October 27th, 2023 with @geneseetrainselevators2448 Happy Birthday ‎@WestCoastElevators  ! I can't believe it's now ALREADY been OVER a year since we FINALLY got to meet up, and to Celebrate your birthday, I figured we'd do so with something VERY RARE & VERY UNIQUE & INTERESTING, that was among one of my favorite sets of elevators I saw when I was in Cleveland! Originally installed in 1907, these elevators are a TON of fun & VERY UNIQUE for SO MANY REASONS! These elevators were completely modernized if not totally replaced in the 1950s into Otis Autotronic Traffic Timed Elevators, which judging by the fact they're labeled as such rather than simply just "Otis Autotronic" combined with the VERY RARE Arrow Touch Call Stations, these elevators are among the EARLIEST sets of Autotronic installations EVER and certainly that are still in existence to this day, and not only do these have the VERY RARE Arrow Touch Call Stations (which there are now LESS than 10 known surviving installations in existence with these call stations as of 2024!!!), but they made these elevators travel 600 FPM which is INSANELY FAST for 13 FLOORS, making these elevators a TON of fun ESPECIALLY when you combine that with the Smooth but Fun & Thrilling Ride Quality Vintage Otis Tractions such as these usually have to offer, and these elevators have some quirks of their own that just add to how fun they really are! However, since this full replacement done in the 1950s, some changes have taken place and given the fact these elevators are labeled as Traffic Timed suggesting that this is a Very Early Autotronic installation, I'm going to assume these had the Pop Out buttons originally. In either the 1970s or Early 1980s, a Generic Company came in and modernized these elevators again, this time with VERY RARE Payne COPs and New Walls for the Cabs. However, despite this slap on mod done to the inside of the elevators, everything else about these elevators still remains as is from the 1950s modernization. While it is unfortunate considering the fact that these elevators almost surely had the Pop Out buttons originally (if not a VERY EARLY version of Square Touch), seeing Payne fixtures is EQUALLY AS RARE, they're ALSO VINTAGE and this is also only my SECOND time seeing Payne fixtures since I rode the "West Coast" Elevators in Naples a few years ago, and for that, I'm NOT COMPLAINING ONE BIT! A piece of plastic was also added covering the indicator, however the 50s era tray lighting in the cabs remained as is. Interestingly, around this time these elevators recieved the Payne slap on, the 5th elevator in the bank on the far right got a Full & Complete Mod for the 2nd time by Otis with GAL JetPlus fixtures, a New Cab, A New Door Track, A New Controller, Individual Call Stations to call that specific elevator and it was converted into an Express Elevator of sorts....However, despite this, it goes MUCH SLOWER than the other elevators. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind this was, and I'm not sure if this particular car got the Payne mod prior to the GAL Otis mod or not, but this definitely adds to the uniqueness of this elevator system. And in addition to these elevators being unique, the controllers have a LOT of issues, which while a SERIOUS problem definitely added to the fun of these elevators. Due to YouTube's character limit in video descriptions, I'm not going to go into too much detail here, but if you watch the video you'll see what I mean. That being said however, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED these elevators a LOT and HOPEFULLY they won't be modernized ANYTIME soon! They're pretty FAST & SMOOTH for their age, they have EXTREMELY RARE Fixtures both inside & out, Nice Cabs, one of the cars has INSANE CLASSIC LEVELING with the doors opening a FOOT prior to reaching the floor, and one car in the bank is totally different from the rest! Riding these elevators is AN ABSOLUTE MUST when visiting Cleveland, security here was VERY friendly and welcoming about letting me & Alex ride these! And with that all being said, I hope you guys enjoy the video of these VERY RARE & VERY UNIQUE Elevators, and Happy 26th Birthday Kyle! Installed in 1907. (Manually Controlled Otis Elevators) Modernized: 1st Modernized in Circa Early to Mid 1950s. (Otis Autotronic Traffic Timed Elevators with Arrow Touch Call Stations, Pop Out button COPs?, New Motors, New Controllers, New Doors, New Lanterns, etc. Basically a total replacement) 2nd Modernization in Circa 1970s or Early 1980s. (COPs replaced with Payne fixtures and new cabs in 4 of the elevators, everything else left original from the 1950s Modernization. 1 elevator fully modernized again with new cab, GAL JetPlus fixtures, New Controller and possibly new motor.)
