Floridian Elevators's video: MIP: Schindler Otis Compass 360 Elevators at The Koppers Building in Pittsburgh PA

@MIP: Schindler & Otis Compass 360 Elevators at The Koppers Building in Pittsburgh, PA
Filmed on October 23rd, 2023. Here is the first of several very famous Pittsburgh office towers I filmed during my trip here. These elevators are located in a Gorgeous Historic Office Tower built in 1929, and the Elevators here have been filmed by many people over the years. Modernized in either the 1990s or Early 2000s by Schindler, these elevators have been in the process of getting modded for the 3rd time by Otis with Compass 360 and all New Cabs and Everything for the past year and a half, and much to my surprise, the Modernization wasn't completed yet as of my visit! At the time of this video being recorded, all of the working elevators in the High Rise bank were modded to Compass, while all of the working elevators in the Low Rise bank were still Schindler. 1 elevator in each of the two banks was out of service for Modernization. This video features rides on both the High Rise and Low Rise Elevators in the building, and my thoughts on these elevators are that the Schindler Elevators that are being modded are in Excellent Condition, have very nice Cabs that fit in nicely with the building, and the COPs have an interesting "This Car Next" light above the buttons making me wonder if these were still on their Selectomatic Controllers when the RT Fixtures were first installed but the controllers were updated later. Idk for sure, but regardless, it's definitely interesting. The Lantern chimes are very interesting too and sound like an Entry system approval chime lol. Overall, the existing elevators were fine, and I don't think modernizing them was that necessary. As for the New Compass Modernization, it's nice, I like the cabs and the way the new elevators look, they're pretty fast and smooth, I like the Custom Indicator Interfaces and I do overall like the New Compasses here more than the ones at the Cathedral of Learning if I'm being honest. That being said, most of the Unique features the Schindler Elevators had are gone with the New Mod, and while it is very nice, it definitely clashes with the historical feel of the building. Overall, both the older and newly modernized elevators here were both very nice, and I enjoyed riding both of them, I just find the New Modernization to be a bit unnecessary IMO..... Definitely let me know your thoughts in the comments below! For those wondering, no I did not ride the Freight/Service Elevator here as there were maintenance people using it unfortunately.... Installed in 1929. (Manually Controlled Westinghouse?) 1st Modernization: Circa 1960s (Westinghouse Selectomatic with Type A/AE or Pop Out Buttons with New Motors, New Controllers, New Cabs, New Doors, etc.) 2nd Modernization: Circa 1990s or Early 2000s (Schindler with RT Fixtures, New Motors, New Controllers, Maybe New Cabs) 3rd Modernization: 2022-2024 (Otis Compass 360 with New Cabs, New Motors, New Controllers, Series M2 Fixtures, etc.) Camera details: Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Mic: Built In (c) 2024 Floridian Elevators Productions
