@Kottakkunnu | Tourist Places in Malappuram Kerala
Kottakkunnu, which used to be a British military camp, is now a tourist destination where you can spend a whole day with your family or friends. Watch in Malayalam: https://youtu.be/8r9ukGZcHBU Located in the heart of Malappuram city in Kerala, Kottakunnu is a historically significant area that witnessed many anti-British struggles. It was here that the great freedom fighter Wariyam Kunnath Kunjahammad Haji was shot dead for fighting the British. Kottakkunnu also has historical significance. There is an old fort built by Koyikode Samuthiris, from which this area came to be known as Kottakkunnu. The remains of the ancient fort, which served as the military headquarters of the Samodhi rulers, can still be seen. Various monuments dedicated to prominent figures in the history of the region can also be found on top of this hill. Kottakkunnu has special facilities for children like game zone, balloon park, fun park, bicycle track. Another sight in this place is the Miracle Garden. Flowers, butterflies, tree man and desert are all set here. If that is not enough, there are many sights with nostalgic memories of old Malabar region, like ancient homes, ration shops, vaayanashaala and many more. This place is one of the most popular centers in Malappuram as it is in the heart of the city and easily accessible. A huge crowd will come here on special days. Kottakkunnu Tourism Park is the best place to start a day with snow-capped mountains as far as the eye can see, the city of Malappuram hiding in plain sight, chirping songs, gentle breeze, sunrise... One can also visit Kottakkunnu to end the day by watching the sunset, the musical fountain and the laser show. The park is open to visitors from 8 am to 9 pm, the entrance fee is only 10 rupees, and there is a separate fee for each ride. Vehicles can be parked on the hill. But the joy of climbing the stairs through the flowers and reaching the top of the hill is awesome. The fort consists of hilltops, slopes and stone steps leading up to the hilltops. There is a garden and many mandapas to enjoy the breeze. There are many things like a music fountain, laser show, 12D theatre, adventure park, baby park, cycle track and so on. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays there is a half hour laser show from 7pm and the current main attraction is the musical fountain. The construction of a hanging garden, glass walk etc. is in progress.
