Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's video: First Fire Up Nickel Plate Road 765 in 1978

@First Fire Up | Nickel Plate Road 765 in 1978
Vintage 8mm from filmed by Tom Stephens and 3/4 inch U-Matic tape filmed by Dan Lynch during the September 17th, 1978 test-fire of Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765. This was the first time the locomotive had been under steam in 20 years, and the repeated whistle-blowing is evidence of the excitement. A year later, the locomotive would move under its own power for the first time since its retirement and the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's career of operating the 765 in excursion service would begin shortly thereafter.
