2019 Chiang Mai Loy Krathong and Yi Peng parade. Annual Thai celebrations where Chiang Mai comes alive with sight and sound. This festival takes place on the full moon of the 12th month of the traditional Thai lunar calendar. It changes every year but usually falls in November. Decorated flower baskets called Krathong are placed in the river to pay respects to the river goddess. During the Yi Peng Festival lanterns called Khom Loi are released into the night sky.
