GBA 049's video: Monster Hunter Frontier Z: Akura Vashimu

@Monster Hunter Frontier Z: Akura Vashimu
It honestly shouldn't be that much of a surprise to fully perceive that an average scorpion covered in crystals would turn out to be the most popular among the multitude of normal monsters out there in Frontier. Based from what I examined before I experienced the game, Akura Vashimu was practically the only example when it came to genuine monster discussions. Overrated? I'd argue to disagree. In fact, I'd say that Akura Vashimu deserves all of the praise it could possibly receive. And not only because it's JUST a scorpion. I can't condone the notion of constantly judging a monster based on appearances; which ironically speaking should be toned down because the gag of spikes/anime is getting severely old and hypocritical at best, because this crystallized titan carapaceon scorpion (I'm mad that it's not a neopteron despite it having green blood. The decisions made by Capcom confuses me sometimes) withholds just enough value to quantify in concept form. Furthermore, adding more emphasis from what I stated above, I will do exactly that by giving Akura Vashimu literally ALL of the praise as a monster by including it's entire family for extra added measure by definition. Akura Jebia and Zenith Akura Vashimu First off to bestow a fulfilling prize for performance is the normal Akura Vashimu In HR 5 standards, it's style of combat is handled particularly average on tells of attack and fair to manage due to it's crystallization being less frequent and predictable. However, in G Rank Hardcore, Akura Vashimu's speed on basic attacks is increased (just like how it always is for every normal monster) and the usage of crystallization becomes a lot more widespread from it's tail spray forming crystals in a very large distance, placing mini crystal explosives that are detonated manually by it, and overall turning the experience a lot more hazardous. Akura Vashimu's potential is handled quite excellently with it's enhanced layout of dangerous attacks. One aspect that I respect a lot is it's state of vulnerability after a crystal is destroyed when it's about to trigger the explosion. Very nice touch with that detail, I must say And of course I can't forget to mention the other remaining sides of it's weaknesses either. Mainly the process of severing it's tail. As convoluted as it seems at first for some people who don't fully understand how it works, I'll review the details in short summary. In order to cut off any Akura's tail, you need impact weapons to shatter the crystals (I think my Switch Axe had slight impact forged onto it's design) and cutting weapons to break the head and both pincers. Once those specific conditions are met, Akura will start to flail around uncontrollably. Indicating that the tail is finally ready to be cut off. Any other time before that will not do anything. After awhile seeing Akura struggle without a balanced retaliation, (I would be lying if I said that I didn't feel horrible doing so. Then again, this is all meant for demonstration purposes anyway. I still detested doing it all the while though because it's just so painful for me to watch) it will then begin to eat it's own tail to regain some energy. Losing carves in the process. "Hey I think I should make cutting off a monster's tail more creative!" Well whoever that person at Capcom was to come up with that idea, I'd say they won the battle for creativity in more ways than one. So congratulations on that regard and personally making ME feel like an actual monster I think the biggest aspect that I find more truly admiring about Akura Vashimu is it's general movement and behavior as an actual scorpion. The design is incredibly authentic and the noises are kickass with quality. AND THEY NAILED IT. I gotta say with all due respect, the idea of a scorpion in Monster Hunter is absolutely brilliant on it's own terms. That alone made it feel like it was love at first sight when I fought it as an urgent quest. Seriously, who in their right mind could possibly say no to something like this? It's just way too perfect and impossible to ignore But that's just Vashimu
