COVID-19 outbreak has changed human life. We have switched over to better hygienic practices, physical distancing and wearing masks so as to protect ourselves and those surrounding us. On the other side, we have also entered into a situation where there is a wastage of water, pollution of water bodies, several health and environmental problems related to improper disposal of masks & PPE apart from psychological distress and anxiety. Dr. Priyanka Tyagi, during a live webinar, organized by organized by GD Goenka Up Learn Academy in association with GD Goenka University, Gurugram, Haryana, speaks about the scientific rationale behind advisories issued by health agencies to prevent coronavirus infection and their impacts on human biology and environment. Dr. Priyanka Tyagi did her PhD from Institute of Nuclear medicine & Allied Sciences, DRDO and post-doctoral research work as Project Scientist at Centre for Biomedical Engineering at IIT- Delhi. Having around nine years of teaching and research experience, she is currently working as Assistant Professor at School of Basic and Applied Sciences, GD Goenka University, Gurugram. Her research areas include development of polymer based drug delivery systems and heavy metal decorporation.
