@Summer School-2023
The GD Goenka Summer School Programme for Young scholars began on 29 May 2023 and came to its successful end on 5 June 2023. The Summer School began with an orientation which saw Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik, Dean Student Welfare & International Relations giving an overview of the academic life at the University. The orientation also saw chief mentors of each course gave an overview of the course pack that their respective school was offering, followed by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) B S Satyanarayana’s address who welcomed the young students with his inspiring words of action. Major Karttikeya Sharma, the administrative head of GD Goenka University introduced the students to the campus infrastructure and facilities, as also introduced all the sports and fitness in-charges on campus during the course of the summer school programme. The orientation came to an end with a vote of thanks by Ms. Pushpa Joshi, Deputy Director, Outreach & Admissions. The eight days of the Summer School Programme saw enthusiastic participation by young students who came from different states and schools to participate in one of the most reputed institutions of Delhi-NCR for the Summer School. The following days saw them engaged in various academic and extra-curricular activities as they formed groups for their chosen courses and were mentored by our talented faculty members. The students had an overview of the various courses they had chosen as the faculty guided them through practical, hands-on experiential learning projects building and igniting in them the love for what could be the future career they might choose. The courses in the Summer School programme covered concepts of STEAM and the concept of medicines and physiotherapy in the sciences to finances in management and digital law and technology in the field of law to name a few. The students’ creativity was aptly stoked and moulded in the practical hands-on learning offered in the hospitality and design courses while the art of being heard offered by the humanities gave them new perspectives on understanding the self and one’s world. A very special part of the summer school programme was the guest lectures organised for the students where they got to hear some unconventional success stories. Our guests came from diverse backgrounds which included a young successful YouTuber and social media influencer, a young musician, an image consultant, a chef and experts from fire safety and agriculture, who opened before our students’ avenues of unconventional career choices and inspired them with their own success stories. A very important part of the summer school program was the sporting activities that were integrated into the curriculum. All summer school participants were engaged with a variety of sports ranging from shooting and swimming to soccer, basketball and badminton. The summer school program also had its own share of fun with programs as a DJ Night and gala dinner, a trek to the Aravali Mountains, a walkathon on campus, a visit to mall and finally a movie Night which left our students asking for more. The summer School program came to an end with the Valedictory which saw our mentoring faculties, administrative staff and sports official being felicitated with souvenirs in recognition of their hard work. The highlight of the day came with a video compilation showing the students journey on campus and the felicitation of all the young scholars with a trophy and a certificate in recognition of their successful completion of summer school.
