LIKING this video would also be helpful! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, in preparation for finalizing my subs for GX 89 and 90, I just spent most of the past week working on these edits (partly from having taken some vacation time off work and not having planned anything for it, lol) and really wanted to show 'em off. This was one of my first on-screen translation edits as I first subbed episode 90 back in 2012 [as I mention near the end of the video], now being redone for the two scenes as Samejima looks over the current medal count in the GeneX Tournament for our main crew, plus Saiou in the second one. I also included mockups I did of what the English dub could've done, if 4Kids wanted to keep the text (and I may try using it for... *reasons* at some point actually), and what they actually did--it amuses me that they not only got rid of the text in the Duel Academia circle in the middle [which lists the dorm names too; they keep the circle intact when it appears in scenes like Martin walking in the main hallway in 125 (I imagine not being able to replace "Osiris Red" with "Slifer Red" was part of it)], but the names too, yet they still kept the name boxes there??? lol. Also amused with the little bits of detail the dub team removed as they tried to edit the text, which I made sure to account for as I edited. Of course, this is with maybe 15 years of hindsight and slightly better editing knowhow, but for my being a fan and being able to do the editing a bit better with the right kind of time... lol. As mentioned, I go through the editing process on my blog post linked above, if you'd like a more detailed breakdown, but all in all, I'm happy with how this revamp came out, now that I'm better at using Photoshop and Sony Vegas, and hopefully you'll enjoy seeing it in action when I get 89 and 90 finalized in the next 2-3 weeks or so! :) DISCLAIMER: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
