Mahasar Taal trek: 9 km from Ghandiyal Dhar on the Kot-Ghandiyal Dhar road from the old town of Tehri Garhwal is situated on a steep climb 9 km from Ghandiyal Dhar, at a height of 3,000 meters above sea level. Rich in natural beauty, situated in the middle of different species and rare trees, this Taal is considered to be the abode of Nag-Nagin brother sisters Mahasarnag, Maheshwari Nagin. There is also a mythological temple of 'Mhar' deity in Mahasaratal.The names of these snakes were named after Mahasar (Mhar) and Naagin after Maheshwari (Mharin). Arjuna Kursi, Sahastral trek, Khatling Glacier Yatra are also done on this track. Mahasar and Maharani Taal : This taal is the abode place of Mahasarnaag. Located at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level. There are two big water lakes in Mahasar Taal, which are known as Mahasar (Mahasarnag) and Maharini (Maaheshwari) Lake (Taal). There is a mythological temple of Nag Devta here. In whose womb the planet is a serpent made of stone. According to Jansruti, whose story is as follows that 300 years ago there used to be a king named Ghumrana Shah in Maikot - Kemar Patti, Tehri district. His son was Umrana Shah. Who had no child. He did penance for Sheshnag to have a son. Sheshnag was pleased with the austerity of Phoolmala, the wife of Umrana Shah and appeared in human form and said that I will take birth in your house in the form of a snake. As a result, Sheshnag was born in the form of two serpents from the womb of the flower garden, which sometimes changed into human form and sometimes into its serpent form. The serpent was named Mahasar and the serpent was named Maheshwari. So, after some time due to the diplomacy going on among the royal family, they left the royal family. Nagraj and Nagrani siblings made Mahasar Tal their home, where these two lake are located at the present time. People from seven villages of Bhoodhakedar have been worshiping them for years. His temple and huge hammock are still present in Bhudkhedar Nath area, on the banks of Bal Ganga, in a place called Vishan. Every year, there is a journey from here to Mahasar Tal in the month of August called Ganga Dussehra. मासरताल ट्रेक: टिहरी गढ़वाल के बूढ़ाकेदार कस्बे से कोट-घंडियाल धार सड़क मार्ग पर घंडियाल धार से 9 km पैदल खड़ी चढ़ाई पर स्थित मासरताल एवं महारानी ताल समुद्र तल से 3,000 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्य से भरपूर, भिन्न भिन्न प्रजातियों एवं दुर्लभ वृक्षों के बीचोंबीच स्थित यह ताल नाग-नागिन भाई बहिनों महासरनाग, माहेश्वरी नागिन का निवास स्थान माना जाता है। महासरताल में ‘म्हार’ देवता का एक पौराणिक मन्दिर भी है। नाग का नाम महासर (म्हार) तथा नागिन का नाम माहेश्वरी (म्हारीण) के नाम पर ही इन तालों का नाम रखा गया। इस ट्रैक पर आगे चलते हुए अर्जुन कुर्सी, सहस्रताल ट्रेक, खतलिंग ग्लेशियर यात्रा भी की जाती है। महासर ताल और महारिनी ताल : महासर ताल और महारिनी ताल एक नागराज और नागरानी का निवास स्थान है ।समुद्र तल से 3,000 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। महासर ताल में दो बड़ी पानी की झीलें हैं, जिन्हें महासर (महासरनाग) और महारिनी (महेश्वरी) ताल के नाम से जाना जाता है। यहाँ नाग देवता का एक पौराणिक मंदिर है। जिसके गर्भ में ग्रह पत्थर से बना सर्प है। हिमालय की गोद में रईस , मुण्डेर , देवदार ,रयूंष आदि अनेक प्रजाति के वृक्षों की ओट में स्थित महासर ताल १३०० वर्ष पुरानी ऐतिहासिक गाथा को अपने में समाये हुए है। जिनकी कहानी, जनश्रुति के अनुसार कुछ इस प्रकार है कि ३०० वर्ष पूर्व मैकोट - केमार पट्टी टेहरी जिले में घुमराणा शाह नाम का एक राजा हुआ करता था इसका पुत्र उमराणा शाह था। जिसकी कोई संतान नहीं थी। उन्होंने पुत्र प्राप्ति के लिए शेषनाग की तपस्या की। उमराणा शाह की पत्नी फूलमाला की तपस्या से शेषनाग प्रशन्न हुए और मनुष्य रूप में प्रकट होकर कहा की मई तुम्हारे घर में नाग रूपमे जन्म लूंगा। फलतः शेषनाग ने फूलमाला के गर्भ से दो नागों के रूप में जन्म लिया, जो की कभी मनुष्य रूप में तो कभी अपने नाग रूप में परिवर्तित होते रहते थे। नाग का नाम महासर तथा नागिन का नाम माहेश्वरी रखा गया। तो कुछ समय बाद वहाँ राजपरिवार के बीच चलती कूटनीति के कारण राजपरिवार छोड़ दिया। महासर ताल को नागराज और नागरानी भाई बहन ने अपना निवास स्थान बनाया, जहाँ वर्तमान समय में यह दो ताल स्थित है। बूढ़ाकेदार छेत्र के सात गाँवों के लोग इनकी सदियों से पूजा करते आ रहे है । यहाँ के लिए विशन गाँव से अभी भी अगस्त के समय गँगा दशहरा नाम से यात्रा होती है ।
