La Roux é formado em 2008 pela cantora Elly Jackson e pelo produtor musical Ben Langmaid. O álbum de estreia da banda La Roux (2009) foi um sucesso comercial e de crítica, ganhando um Grammy e produzindo singles de sucesso como " In for the Kill " e " Bulletproof ". A gravação de um álbum de sucessor foi marcada por colaborações malsucedidas, o cancelamento de duas datas de lançamento planejadas e conflitos relatados entre a dupla. BenLangmaid finalmente deixou o grupo em 2012, e Jackson lançou um segundo álbum, Trouble in Paradise , em 2014, mantendo o nome da ex-dupla como sua persona de palco.
