I wish I could put into words just how much, how much, this means to me. Sometimes I find it odd to try to share such personal things to the world. But then I remember that WE affect others. Regardless of us seeing it or knowing it. We affect all the people around us. Good or Bad, your choice. But I know that I have an affect on the world and those around me so I find it my duty to share these things. To try my best to have a positive effect. I’ve been training in Mixed Martial Arts my entire life: As far back as I can remember. Age 5 officially. My father is an exceptional man. And also a heck of a business man. He truly is, my inspiration. The attention to craft he had, the drive, the work ethic, the passion... I just wanted to do everything my dad did. So I followed him everywhere and I followed him onto the mat. And as long as I was willing to learn, he would pass down his knowledge to me. I don’t come from a very traditional background of martial arts in my opinion, because TRULY my Dad is what you call a Mixed Martial Artist. He spent over 30 years cultivating knowledge from some of the best instructors and earned black belts from several arts including American Kenpo Karate, CQC, Filipino Arnis, Combat Kenpo, Taekwondo, and is an EXTRAORDINARY Kick Boxer. I was taught all of these arts under my father in his Dojo. My Father calls his System: MODO MÍO Which translates to "My Style" My father sent my Brother to go off and learn BJJ so that we could add to our knowledge once the boom of Fighting and UFC came to attention. He taught me Jiu Jitsu. This has been my entire LIFE. Everyday. Everyday. Everyday. And I just feel so lucky for that. This was never handed to me. My father doesn’t belt anyone under 18 years of age and for good reasons. After 17 years of Martial Arts....failing a belt test....literal blood sweat and tears....Seeking my Father to train me after he moved one and a half hours away and “retired”.... I came to this day. & To receive this from my Father...it’s just, everything. & Truth is... it’s also just The Beginning.
