That’s because the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus use those buttons together to open up Emergency SOS now, unlike on the 7 and 7 Plus which use 5 clicks of the Side button to activate Emergency SOS. On the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, instead of holding the Side and Volume Down buttons together, you have to quickly press the Volume Up button, then quickly press the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Side button for 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo appear.
