世界的建築家のアルヴァ・アアルトとその妻、アイノ・アアルトが1920年から1930年にかけて追及した、小さくとも豊かに生活するための、住宅デザインに焦点をあてます。アアルト夫妻は「日常の暮らしにこそデザインが必要である」という思想から建築設計だけでなく、家具、グラスウェアなど現在も使われ続ける名品を多く残しました。また、機能的で衛生面を重視したキッチン設計はアイノ・アアルトが行動力学を追求した効率的なデザインのさきがけとなりました。会場には、1930年にアアルト夫妻が展示した最小限住宅展の再現や、自邸の一部をMITの協力のもとAR（拡張現実）で再現する空間構成としています。
