世界にはいろいろな木造建築があり、地域ごとにその特性が現れた形となっています。本展覧会では、東南アジア島嶼部と呼ばれる大小さまざまな島からなる地域に焦点をあて、その建築と生活文化について紹介します。道具を携えて渡来した職人もいれば、そもそも職人そのものが存在しないところもあります。身近な生活圏から得られる材料を熟知し、使いこなす知恵。多様な文化が混在する東南アジアの世界を、建築技術の側面から垣間見てみたいと思います。
