Gareth Danks's video: Has Street Photography Changed in 2020 Documenting a pandemic Fujifilm X100V

It felt like aaaages since I’d been on a street photography shoot. This was my first opportunity to hit the streets with my camera to see what we could find cool & interesting to shoot, and I was very excited..! Although excited to get back to doing some street photography, I was actually nervous too!.. a few reasons.. mainly because of how I’d feared street photography might have changed since all the craziness that’s gone on in the world. Also I wondered if a different approach might be needed.. using a different longer focal length, or perhaps even just my iPhone. I also feared the excitement and thrill might have been damaged. Would people be fearful and upset more with having their picture taken? Would a more minimal fine art style be needed. Would the face masks hide expression and emotions? There was lots to think about, and I’d spoken to several other photographers in the weeks building up who expressed the same concerns. Being a professional photographer means your used to photographing in any environment and in any conditions. And although I don’t get nervous generally I was on this occasion. Being a street photographer is an important job. We are documenting the world we live in and all it’s quirks! Living in a pandemic offers some tremendous photographic opportunities! documenting very important details that will one day be very valuable to illustrating our current way of life.. from shops adjusting to ppe, to pos and road markings indicating traffic direction. Tho scary - we’re living in a very important time in history. I’m so pleased I went, I had a great day - even tho it was 33 degrees haha. Came away with some pics I’m pleased with too.
