Breaking: Pat Maroon has signed a one year, $900k deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. - First off, I want to start off by saying that the whole city of St. Louis should be proud of what the Big Rig accomplished in his only year with the Blues. While he wasn’t at top form for much of the regular season, he turned on a whole new gear when it came time for the playoffs. - In the playoffs, Maroon’s line was our best line in the Dallas series, and Maroon scores arguably the biggest goal in franchise history in 2OT in game 7. Pat helped bring home the first Stanley Cup in franchise history to his hometown, and will always have a place in our hearts. - In the end, while on only a $900k deal, I would have loved to have him back at that price, but with Barbashev left unisgned, Doug Armstrong made his decision. Pat bet on himself and took a pay cut last year to come home and accomplished as much as anyone could ever ask for. Maroon did whatever he could to try to stay home, but in the end he has to take care of himself and his family. - Maroon’s replacement will most likely be top Blues Prospect Jordan Kyrou, who tore up the AHL last year, has nothing left to prove and a Thomas-Bozak-Kyrou line should be filthy.
