My father was a professor of medicine at UCLA for 35 years, Dr. Cleaves Bennett. He is a pioneer in the field of preventive medicine--using healthy living to reverse illness. In 1979 he brought in the investor to buy a hotel in Santa Monica and became the founding medical director of the Pritikin Longevity Center, where 100 people can live for a month for a full immersion healthy living experience. It's the longest profitable healthy living program in the world, of it's kind--now in a Trump owned hotel on Miami Beach. 2 years ago, under the care of UC Riverside doctors, a UC Irvine trained doctor prescribed 2 drugs against our wishes which crippled my Dad--an anti-psychotic and Memantine, developed at UC San Francisco. He has been bedbound with dementia at home ever since, and his Loma Linda doctors and Medicare have refused to pay for the physical therapy which would have helped him walk again. Before he dies in the next few months, we are determined to get him everything he needs to improve and heal. In 2020 I contacted Dr. Greg Cole at the Mary K Easton UCLA Dementia Clinic, and he tried to get my Dad help. I talked to Dr. Dale Bredesen, author of 3 books including "The Alzheimer's Cure" and "The Alzheimer's Cure Program". He was open to working with us. I talked to Dr. Dean Sherzai at Loma Linda University, author of "The Alzheimer's Solutions--A Breakthrough Program to Prevent and Reverse the Symptoms of Cognitive Decline at Every Age". He was open too and agreed to by my father's doctors. We could invite other top health experts like Dr. Dean Ornish, who was just starting trials on dementia and healthy living. Then the doors started closing and I found out that Dr. Bredesen had been hired two years earlier to run the MKE UCLA dementia program, with 1000, patients, but he was slandered by a UCSF professor, and forced out. I told all of them that the only reason he was getting mediocre results which were hard to prove was that he did not have a dedicated facility, out patient is much less effective.
