Gigamesh's video: The Precipice

http://gigameshmusic.com/music/the-precipice I made The Precipice while getting acquainted with GrimesAI and going through a mini existential crisis throughout the wave of AI news earlier this year. I've always found technology creatively inspiring but its hard not to think about all the unforeseen risks, especially for frontier tech advancing at an exponential rate. Given my concerns, I appreciate how Grimes has always embraced tech while not losing sight of what is special about being human. She is also an inspiration to me musically, so I was really excited to make a song using her voice. The title of the song is borrowed from a book of the same name about existential risk (by Tony Ord). It made me think about how our relationship with AI is similar to falling in love: incredibly exciting and potentially life-changing, but could end like a Shakespearean tragedy if we aren't lucky or prepared.
