Global Nomads Group's video: Global Citizenship and the 2016 US Election

The 2016 US Presidential Election has been making dramatic headlines around the world. While elections are always important and often contentious, many feel that this election has been unprecedented in the extreme rhetoric and deep polarization of the political parties. Around the country and the world, people believe that the outcome of this election will shape the future of our individual lives, the United States as a country, and the rest of the world. According to a survey conducted by Teaching Tolerance, the 2016 US Elections are “eliciting fear and anxiety…and disrupting opportunities to teach effectively about political campaigns and civic engagement.” At Global Nomads Group, we believe it is important to foster dialogue about difficult issues and we want to hear directly from youth about what you believe is at stake for you, your family, and your community as US citizens vote this November. We believe in a generation of global citizens who are empathetic, aware, and taking action to solve some of the world's most pressing issues during these transformative times. In this live broadcast event, we will tackle the question: How does the US election impact my life/my community as a young person? Student leaders from different parts of the United States and around the world will share their personal values and how they are experiencing the election. We’ll be joined by a guest speaker, Adam Freelander, a video journalist at Quartz, who makes videos about politics, science, culture, and design. He’s covered breaking news on the video desk at The New York Times, and his work has been featured in Vanity Fair, the Awl, and the Huffington Post. This past summer, he covered both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions on Snapchat.
