Brass Band and soldiers walking through the centre of York, England today for their 10th anniversary Freedom Parade. http://globetrotterguru.com Over 300 Yorkshire Warriors marched through the city centre with ‘bayonets fixed, flags flying and the marching band playing’. From the 10th Anniversary Freedom Parade Facebook Event "300 soldiers of the 1st and 2nd Battalions of The Yorkshire Regiment will march through the city, led by the Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion; Lieutenant Colonel Jim Kennedy, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Regiment. The Freedom of the city was first conferred on The West Yorkshire Regiment in 1944, extended to The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire in 1959 and transferred to today’s Yorkshire Regiment in 2006, when the regiment formed here in York. YORKS veterans from The Yorkshire Regiment and all our antecedent regiments will be represented at the civic ceremony. All ex-members of the regiment and all other veterans are encouraged to attend and show support for their home town ‘Yorkshire Warriors’."
