Today I am going to talk about snow leopard facts that you didn’t already know about. Snow leopards are generally smaller than the average cat, weighing only around 66 pounds to 110 pounds on average. The fur on their belly is about 5 inches thick! Snow Leopards measure on average about 2 and a half to nearly 5 feet long on average. The tail of a snow leopard is almost as long as its body. At the shoulder they stand at almost 2 meters tall! On Average The female is about 30% smaller than the male. Their short forelimbs and long hind limbs make them very agile, and they can jump as much as 50 feet in length. They also have large, furry paws that act as both snow shoes and padding on sharp rocks. China holds 60% of the snow leopard population. Some are widely scattered over Central and South Asia in countries like Russia, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan and more etc. Snow Leopards are rarely seen in the open as a snow leopards nature seems to be more shy than outgoing. So chances are you may never see one even if you are located in the correct environment for them to appear. There are an estimated 4,080-6,590 snow leopards in the wild. They are listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) because their population is suspected to have declined by 20% over the past 16 years. However, in recent years their population has grown a bit but the snow leopard is still at risk. You should keep an eye out for arguably the most beautiful cat in the world while traveling.
