Stethacanthus: The Trypophobia Prehistoric Shark In Real Life The Stethacanthus was a prehistoric sea predator that lived from the Late Devonian to Early Carboniferous epoch, dying out around 323.2 million years ago. Fossils have been found in Asia, Europe and North America. Stethacanthus was estimated to (2.3 ft) long based off the size of the average fossil of the Stethacanthus. The Stethacanthus had a shark-like appearance. However, it is best known for its unusually shaped dorsal fin, Small spikes all over the body like a external and inverted trypophobia, The crest could have played a role in mating rituals, logically speaking it looks like it aided in clamping to the belly of larger marine animals, or been used to scare potential predators. Their is sufficient evidence to make the prediction that this sea monster was a scavenger and piscavore and swam over oceans all over the world based off of how many and where the fossils where found. This prehistoric sea creature looked very frighting and despite its main diet of eating mainly fish, this sea creature is enough to keep you up all night with all lights on experiencing a lightmare rather than a nightmare.
