In 1978, he took fourth place in his weight category at the amateur bodybuilding European Bodybuilding Championship, and a year later, speaking in the Belgian Championship, called "Mr. Belgium", won in his and main weight categories, thus becoming the absolute champion. He is the European champion in karate and kickboxing in 1979 in middleweight among professionals, and also has a black belt. For his fighting career (karate and kickboxing) he had a total of 22 fights, in which he scored 20 wins (13 of them by knockout, 7 by tech knockout) and only lost 2 times by the decision of the referees (see statistics of fights).
