Goodman Theatre's video: Stateville Voices A Festival of Short Plays from the Northwestern Prison Education Program

@Stateville Voices | A Festival of Short Plays from the Northwestern Prison Education Program
What is the real meaning of freedom and independence? Tune in to Live @ Five (July 3 at 5pm) for Stateville Voices--three short plays authored by incarcerated students at Stateville Correctional Center (Crest Hill, IL). Follow along on Facebook, YouTube or at GoodmanTheatre.org/Stateville. The virtual premiere of these original works is the result of a playwriting course taught by playwright and Goodman Artistic Associate Rebecca Gilman as part of the Northwestern Prison Education Program (NPEP). André Patterson’s Parameters of Closeness, Taurean Decatur’s Ain’t Nothing Like Quality Time and Antonio McDowell’s Comic Books and Candy are directed by former Goodman Maggio Fellow, Sydney Chatman--who moderates a post-reading discussion about the plays, NPEP and life inside Stateville during the COVID-19 pandemic. Scheduled around the July 4 Independence Day holiday, Stateville Voices is an invitation to reflect on what freedom and independence mean in a country that incarcerates more of its citizens than any other nation on Earth.
