The Queen's Guard is changed daily from April to July, and every second day for the rest of the year, at 11:30am at Buckingham Palace and is known as Changing The Queen's Guard, or more commonly as Changing the Guard. The Queen's Guard comprises a Buckingham Palace Detachment and a St James's Palace Detachment. For the Guard change, each Detachment is accompanied by a band or corps of drums, drawn from the same regiment or more usually another of the seven Household Division regiments, which includes Cavalry bands dismounted. Changing the Guard is the change of the Old Guard (the last 24 or 48 hours Guard Mount) with the New Guard (the next 24 or 48 hours Guard Mount). The last Guard Change for the band before they took a break and then rehearsals for the 2013 Edinburgh Military Tattoo. CREATION OF THE FIVE REGIMENTS OF FOOT GUARDS 1642: The Scots Guards* were originally formed under Charles I. 1649: Charles I beheaded under Oliver Cromwell's Commonwealth. 1650: The Coldstream Guards* are formed by Oliver Cromwell. 1651: The Scots Guards* are disbanded by Oliver Cromwell. 1656: The Grenadier Guards* formed to protect the exiled Charles II in Belgium, and will become the 1st Regiment of Foot. 1660: Restoration of the monarchy under Charles II. 1661: The Coldstream Guards* disbanded (to break the association with Cromwell) and reformed on the same day, become the 2nd Regiment of Foot. 1662: The Scots Guards* reformed, become the 3rd Regiment of Foot. 1900: The Irish Guards created, become the 4th Regiment of Foot Guards. 1915: The Welsh Guards created, become the 5th Regiment of Foot Guards. * Not known by these titles at the time MORE FOOT GUARDS VIDEOS COMING JULY 2015 - SUBSCRIBE
