Grindhouse Theater's video: Beyond the Darkness 1979 Autopsy Murder Scene

Beyond the Darkness (aka Buio Omega) is the grisly story of a young rich orphan who loses his fiancée to voodoo doll mischief on the part of his housekeeper who is jealous of his attentions. Driven mad by grief, he proceeds to dig her up and embalm her. He then dresses her up and puts her in bed at his mansion. Following this, he tries out and disposes of a series of young maidens, trying to find the right replacement for her, and the disapproving, but overly protective housekeeper helps him with the disposals. Beyond the Darkness (aka Buio Omega) is a 1979 Italian horror film directed by Joe D'Amato. It stars Kieran Canter, Cinzia Monreale, Franca Stoppi and Sam Modesto. The film was shot in just two weeks in Italy in late June and early July 1979. It is a remake of the film The Third Eye. On working with D'Amato, actress Franc Stoppi recalled him saying on set that "We're making a movie to make people throw up. We must make 'em vomit!" The special effects for the gore scenes in the film were made by using animal intestines, pig skin and a sheep's heart which were provided by an abattoir. The score of the film was by Goblin, who were recruited by producer Dario Rossetti and included music that would later be re-used in Contamination and Hell of the Living Dead. The film was re-released in Italy in 1987 as In quella casa Buio omega, where it was marketed as being part of the Evil Dead film series.
