Grubmasters's video: The Colossal Burger - 18 Pound - Camp Cooked Bacon Double Cheese Burger

We wanted to celebrate the Fourth of July with a cheese burger video. At the same time we wanted to do something special for the Scouts at Camp Kinda-Like-A, a virtual Summer Camp. We felt so bad that conventional summer camp was closed… So, we decided to pull out all the stops and stretch our outdoor cooking skills to their absolute limit, or at least to the limit of the cast iron gear we own! In order to pull this off, we had to custom bake a 14 inch sesame seed bun in our largest Dutch Oven (16 inch Lodge). We then seared and cooked through two 6 pound beef patties, both seasoned perfectly with a salt, pepper and garlic powder. We fried up a pound of bacon, threw down some special sauce and added two layers of American cheese. Topping it all off with fresh veggies…. We're super stoked to bring you, what can only be called "The Colossal Burger". It weighed in at 18 pounds and that was before we realized we forgot the pickles (kicking ourselves for that oversight). This was so much fun, and rest assured, we didn't waste a single bite. If we had it to do all over again, we would have added a lot more cheese, and put the specials sauce on top too. Of course the pickles would not have been forgotten either. Maybe a layer of bacon between the patties, you can never have enough bacon! Or how about a dozen fried eggs as a topper?... Ok, we'll settle down now.
