Gurudatta Panda's video: Mahendragiri Gajapati Odisha

Hi, In this video I am showing you my short trip to Mahendragiri mountain peak, which is also 2nd highest peak of Odisha and one of the highest peaks of Eastern Ghat mountain range. The place is situated in Gajapati District in Southern Part of Odisha with distance from Paralakhemundi 60kM and from Berhampur 90KM via the mountain ghats. The place is famous for its historical temples of Mahabharata times like Kunti Temple, Yudhisthira Temple, Bhima and Arjuna Temple. The temples are basically named after Pandav brothers but Lord Shiva is worshipped here. It is believed that Lord Parsuram, the 6th Avataar of Bishnu lives on this mountains as he is one of the Cheeranjivi or Avataar that do not die. Coming to tourism capacity, this place has lot of natural bio diversity, scenic views, beautiful trekking routes and night camping spot. Generally local people picnic here, but this place is more than what has been explored till now. In my point Para-Gliding, Mountain climbing and Cycling, Motor Sports are some of the adventures yet to be tried here. People from across the India comes here on their bikers gang and stays overnight to enjoy the weather. Best Season to come with family- Literally Any Season. Nearest Airport- Vishakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar. Nearby Railway Station - Paralakhemundi, Brahmapur. Hotels to Stay- Paralakhemundi or Brahmapur. Restaurants Nearby - Paralakhemundi, Tumba (Dhaba), Patrapur. Nearby Attractions- Bariapathara Waterfall -https://youtu.be/vcKZuKoY1k4 Gandahati Waterfall, Mankadadian Waterfall, Jiranga Buddhist Monastery, Taptapani Hot Springs, Paralakhemundi Royal Palace, Rayagada town and many more. Festivals- During Mahashibaratri festivals, this place is throng by thousands of crowd trekking barefoot to the mountain top throughout the night. A 3 days festival is observed with the local ashram conducting holy Yangnya & puja on the occasion. Archeology- This place has archeological importance due to finding of ASI regarding the temple and its age old carvings. The place is conserved by ASI as the notice says. Bio Diversity- The place has been notified by central govt as bio diversity hot spot due to the fact that more than 600 species of fauna, herbs, medicinal plants grows here naturally. One can experience it when visit. It is true that some rare species of plants grow on this mountain which is uncommon in these part of the country. Emergency- There is no emergency services nearby, telecom network works intermittently here. So be prepared to rush to Paralakhemundi for medical emergency.
