Welcome to the free IELTS preparation course by GyanDhan. In this video series, Astha will guide you through the IELTS preparation and provide tips to score big. The International English Language Testing System, commonly known as IELTS, is a standard English language proficiency test for non-native English speakers or speakers of other languages. Currently, it is managed by IDP Australia and Cambridge Assessment English in India. If you are planning to study or work abroad in English-speaking countries such as the US, the UK, Canada, New Zealand, etc., you need to take the IELTS test. There are two types of IELTS tests: General and Academic. The General training is for those who are willing to work abroad or migrate, while the Academic IELTS is for students who want to study in foreign universities and colleges. This video series will focus on Academic IELTS, which includes four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Listening and Reading are receptive skills, whereas Writing and Speaking are productive skills. Astha will explain in detail the format of each skill test and provide tips on how to score well in each section. The Listening test lasts for 40 minutes, while the Reading test lasts for 60 minutes. The Writing test requires the candidate to write a report and an essay in 60 minutes, while the Speaking test lasts for 11-14 minutes. The scoring is done on a band scale of 1-9, and each module is marked out of 9. The overall band score is the average of the four modules. Astha will also explain how to achieve a higher band score in each module. In conclusion, this video is an introduction to the IELTS test and the skills required to score well.
