Suddenly, their batting looks strong and with excellent depth while their bowling is so much more effective with Australia’s best spinner available to them. Jordan Silk has scored a lot of runs for the Sixers this season and he adds depth to the squad in the middle order as well. The Sydney Sixers have done well to overcome their losing streak and build up some decent winning momentum behind them. They have an excellent opportunity to end their season on a strong note and lay down some foundation stones for the next few seasons MELBOURNE STARS The Melbourne Stars have won just one single match in this season out of the eight that they have played so far. They were in the same boat the Sydney Sixers for a large part of the tournament but unlike their opponents, the Melbourne Stars were unable to turn things around. Nothing for the Melbourne Stars has gone right but the biggest problem in our opinion has been their bowling. The Melbourne Stars lack a strike bowler that can keep them in the game or take wickets on a consistent basis. No bowler from their team has taken more than 6 wickets in the entire tournament. They have also not been able to keep the runs down which would help build up some pressure. This poor bowling unit has meant that the Stars are always chasing 20 runs more than they should or end up falling short while defending a par total. With no real options remaining in their squad, the Melbourne Stars must hope for some magic from their batsmen to win them their last two remaining matches. They do have some batsmen that are capable of providing that magic like Ben Dunk, Glenn Maxwell, or even Kevin Pietersen. The one match that they have won was because of a brilliant inning by Kevin Pietersen and the former England great will want to sign off with another similar knock. We think that the batsman most likely to score runs for the Stars is actually Peter Handscomb. He has thrived after being moved up to the opening position and makes good use of the restrictions. The only way the Melbourne Stars are going to win is by scoring enough runs to give their bowlers some cushion so they need to hard from the first ball.
