Srikanta Acharya is a Kolkata-based modern Bengali singer. He is one of the most prominent exponents of Rabindra Sangeet. Srikanta Acharya was born in Kolkata and is the son of Rohini Nandan Acharya and Kana Acharya. He received formal training in Rabindrasangeet from Dakshinee. He has also received training in tabla from Ustad Ali Ahmed Khan. After quitting his job as a sales professional he started his career as a Singer. He primarily sang contemporary Bengali songs reflecting the ethos of his times as well steeped in the rich musical heritage of the past. Significantly Srikanto's song in Rituparno Ghosh's film Titli fetched him the Best Male Playback BFJA award in 2003 and rendition of a Tagore song for Mrinal Sen`s movie Amar Bhuban fetched him the Anandalok Award for the Best Male Playback Singer in 2004. he had also played the role of Satyendranath in the movie Kadombori.
