HIT Team UoB's video: Burrator Reservoir Bed in VR - Multibeam Sonar Data Conversion

@Burrator Reservoir Bed in VR - Multibeam Sonar Data Conversion
A real-time VR "fly-through" of the topography of part of the Meavy Valley, today submerged under the waters of Burrator Reservoir, near Yelverton, north of Plymouth, UK. The 3D database was converted from high-definition multibeam sonar records captured from a survey undertaken using an autonomous surface vessel in April 2016. When correlated with a 19th Century map showing the pre-flooded natural basin describing the overall geography of the region, it is possible to clearly identify a variety of man-made sites and artefacts, from Drake's Leat and the old Sheepstor Bridge over the course of the River Meavy, to the foundations of Essworthy Farm and the trackbed built to allow steam cranes to move large blocks of granite during the construction of the main reservoir dam.
