HIT Team UoB's video: Mars Planetary Exploration for Astronaut Training

A basic VR planetary exploration demo using the HTC Vive, featuring a conceptual scenario based on deploying manned and semi-autonomous systems to support early surface surveys. The demo includes a heads-up (EVA helmet-projected) display for relaying imagery from a support unmanned aerial vehicle whilst in flight and a return of the astronaut to the rover vehicle upon detecting an incoming dust storm. The demonstration uses 3D assets sourced online and was rendered in Unity in real time. This was an illustration of technology-based simulation possibilities put together to support briefing events on plans for the UK’s first astronaut training centre, hosted by Blue Abyss (http://blueabyss.uk/).
