The CT4-V is an impressive achievement -- a compact luxury car with all of the power and excitement of a sports car. The twin-turbo V6 is refined and responsive, though fuel economy is low for its class. Other sore spots include the size of the back seat and the trunk. Still, it's rare to find a rear-wheel-drive sedan with this much power and an authentic manual transmission. Add in Cadillac's standard luxury and safety tech, and the CT4-V feels like a bargain at under $60,000. It's not quite as fleet-footed as German rivals, but the CT4-V should more than satisfy many buyers. Pros The Blackwing is extremely fast. Refreshingly sporty handling. Balanced chassis. Verdict Cadillac has become a true rival for European performance models with its latest V-Series sports sedans, and the CT4-V embodies this with an exterior poised for action and up to 472 horsepower managed through a 6-speed manual or quick-shifting automatic. Ever a Cadillac, the CT4-V has amenities like power leatherette seats and Apple CarPlay. What's New for 2023 Recently updated, there aren't many major changes for the 2023 CT4-V. Trims and Pricing Cadillac offers the CT4-V in Standard and Blackwing trims. The Standard model ($46,595) includes a 325-hp engine, a 10-speed automatic gearbox, automatic LED headlamps, an active suspension, a limited-slip differential, a suite of driver safety features, rain-sensing wipers, driver's seat memory, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, a WiFi hotspot, and a 14-speaker premium audio system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. The Blackwing ($60,495) adds a 472-hp engine, a manual transmission, 18-way power front seats with heaters, a heated leather sport wheel, and wireless charging. Buyers can upgrade the leatherette cabin to a combination of leather, performance cloth, and sueded microfiber. Carbon fiber exterior accents provide an elegant take on speed. The optional Driver Assist package delivers semi-autonomous driving abilities (requires 10-speed transmission). Other options worthy of mention are a high-performance steering wheel trimmed in carbon fiber, a head-up display, and blue brake calipers with matching painted key fobs. Engine and Performance The main difference between the two CT4-V trims comes down to powertrain changes. Whereas the CT4-V employs a 325-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, the Blackwing makes significantly more power. Its 3.6-liter V6 has been twin-turbocharged to produce 472 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. A manual transmission comes standard, while a quick-shifting automatic is available. The EPA estimates fuel returns of 15 mpg in city driving, 23 on the highway, and 18 combined. Interior The CT4-V has a luxurious cabin with all of the features one would expect at the $60,000 price point. Its sleek dashboard has a sporty look with reflective surfaces and touch-sensitive buttons. Some of the plastics around the previous CT4 felt a bit low-end, but the Blackwing alleviated this concern and then some. Gorgeous carbon is fitted around the center console and the backs of the front sport seats. Six-footers will feel perfectly at home on long trips. Unfortunately, the back seat suffers from the same lack of leg space as last year's CT4, making it a tight squeeze for larger-framed adults. Trunk space is also a bit limited, at 10.7 cubic feet.
