The collaboration we've been working on for roughly a month! And it's a song that we never thought we'd be able to cover! This song is definitely one of the best in the game, and helps the final boss battle to be incredibly memorable. It's one of the longest songs in the game and the way it encapsulates themes from the rest of the game in a more epic way always makes me smile. Plus the timpani in the first part are pretty damn cool. It seemed obvious for us to cover one of the biggest themes from Mother since we're all huge fans! The reason this cover was such a challenge arrangement-wise is the clarinet runs. Holy shit those clarinet runs. We tried so many different things to get around that obstacle, since we were pretty set on doing this. We thought about slowing down the entire second section to 130bpm, we thought about just practising the crap out of it... Eventually we hit upon the idea of halving the speed of the runs and turning it into a sort of industrial rock/dance type thing. I feel like it worked well. A lot of the second part is completely rewritten with our own chords so as to make it really unique. The first part is the only real straight part of the cover ^^' The riff at the end was something 94Stones suggested, to end on a big note, and to have something in a fun time signature. It ended up turning into a whole section of the cover, with solos and little reprises of the first part. The whole arrangement was a ton of fun to do :D It was an absolute blast working with 94Stones, and I feel like our individual influences all come across in this cover. We tried to balance out lead and rhythm parts the best we could. The whole experience was amazing, 94Stones is a super friendly and easy-going dude and our sessions of working on the cover were very memorable! Also you should subscribe to him if you somehow haven't already: https://www.youtube.com/user/94Stones Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!
