Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on the DS had an absolutely amazing soundtrack with some real earworms. Pitch Black Intrusion, the track for the first area of the game, is one of the catchiest songs I've ever heard, and still sticks in my head after 8 years! Dracula's Tears is just incredibly groovy and surprisingly upbeat for a song from Dracula's secret laboratory, haha. Anyway, we really wanted to try something completely new for the arrangement of this cover. Quite early on we threw around the idea of adding some ska chords to a rock cover but in the end we settled for going full on ska. After quite a bit of research and listening to some classic 70s ska, we made this! It's quite a bit more uptempo than most old ska, but that hopefully makes it more fun to listen. For Dracula's Tears, we decided to embrace the groove. Both the electric piano and bass parts have improvised rhythms (which is why the bass isn't in the tab, sorry :() which was actually quite relaxing to do. On the other hand I'm very happy with the bassline I wrote for the first song. It's Skastlevania! Mixing wise, I finally feel like I got the kick drum to come through enough :D and in general I'm pretty happy with the mix for this one. So yeah, hopefully you'll enjoy it! :) the next cover is from an indie game and it should be a lot of fun! Also we went past 200 subscribers, holy poop, thank you so so so much. We'll be doing a run of special videos to celebrate the one year anniversary of the channel, so look forward to that :D Anne-Sophie says: I'm really glad with this cover, in particular the electric piano and clean rhythm guitar.
