Hard Science's video: Visualizing Dubstep with a Tube of Fire

@Visualizing Dubstep with a Tube of Fire
WATCH OUTTAKES HERE: http://testu.be/1nhA5C0 Watch Anthony and Tara get down with dancing flames after they make their own Rubens' Tube. Join Anthony Carboni and Tara Long as they turn the world around them into a giant science experiment. New videos every Wednesday! Materials Needed: - Ventilation Ducting - Propane Tank - Tubing (to fit propane tank) - Silicone Sealant - Latex Sheet (or glove) - Drill - Drill Bits Experiment Tips: - Be sure that the seam and both ends of the ventilation ducting are air tight. - Dubstep and techno music really shows off the effects of this experiment. High and Low Pressure: http://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2009-01/rubens-tube Sound waves consist of alternating regions of high and low pressure. But by igniting the gas in the tube and allowing it to escape out of the holes, we can see where the pressure is high and where it is low. Rubens' Tube Equation http://io9.com/5865646/how-the-rubens-tube-turns-music-into-fire There are equations that reflect the flow of gas through the holes at the top. These say that the flow is proportional to the square root of the pressure difference between the gas inside the hole and the air outside. How To Make: http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Rubens--Tube%3A-Soundwaves-in-Fire!/step5/Materials-and-Tools/ Make a Rubens' Tube of your own!
