Harrison Tarabella's video: Canon R5 8k video test

I've had the R5 for a long time now but have yet to publish any footage from it. I still use and prefer my 6kpro for video work. The image out of it is just better. However for travel and longer hikes the R5 is much smaller and makes more sense. I shoot mostly 8k with it as Canon has solved most of the overheating issues. No one talks about that though. I typically use the 8k IPB codec as I've found that gives me the best image quility/lower data rate ratio. The image is lovely, but it's a PAIN to edit. Unless you have a good M1 Mac then you're going to be living in a nightmare of a proxy workflow. This is the main reason I have yet to upload anything from this camera. I've been shooting with it since October of 2021 and I use a fully upgraded 2019 intel Mac to edit. It handles my 6k Braw footage fine, but the R5 codec is so terrible on my Mac that I just don't ever have motivation to edit it. I have an M1 studio ultra on the way though, so expect many R5 videos in the near future. Very curious what YouTube compression does with this upload, as it's a 70GB master prores HQ file I exported from davinci resolve. Hope it's not compressed to hell. Musicbed Sync ID: MB01OTP4RYNLLDJ
