HeadHunter455's video: MHWIB Velkhana vs Longsword M 5

@MHWIB Velkhana vs Longsword (M★5)
Same as with the Azure Rathalos video, someone was having trouble in my discord server, maybe this might help maybe, as opposed to seeing a speedrunner kill her in like 4 minutes, just a bit of a regular hunt. This one went smoother than a bunch of other attempts and false starts, which is nice. Some cool bits here and there. I took some time and figured out where I could stand and how to avoid and attack through moves and such, but there's a pretty good video series talking about that called artful dodger: https://youtu.be/F4sNVjpAxLI?t=53 IMO the pacing of the video is a little sluggish, but it's pretty informative. Like in my MHFU videos I'm keeping this extremely basic, no felyne, no decorations, no equipment items. I highly recommend you bring these items, but I wanted to focus on what I can guarantee everyone can get. The armor was chosen based on what the viewer was using. I'm not really sure what I'd recommend right now. First off, this fight is HARD. When I first fought Velkhana she kicked my whole ass, so don't feel too bad about it. It's pretty fun once you get the hang of it, there's a lot of safe areas, Velkhana is pretty accurate most of the time, but you can avoid a lot of attacks by just moving, which is nice. I didn't want to take too long making this, because I'm still working on the MHFU Rajang video, but here are some notes: At 1:24 there's a bit of early wall slam tech, you can do this if you're fast enough and spawn in area 15. You should be fine if you do it right away, but feel free to wait until it walks a bit closer to the hallway leading to the next area. When you shoot slinger ammo at the ground, monsters that haven't noticed you/don't care will investigate the sound, which is very useful in a lot of situations actually. In this case, you can use Velkhana's beginning searching animation to use the clutch claw. I saw it in the Team Darkside video, lmao. I hate that move at 1:57, that artful dodger video showed me that the area is safe as soon as Velkhana stops her ice breath. Nifty. Just try to avoid being in front of her, always be moving, get ready to roll, etc. It makes a unique sound for the windup. Try to recognize it when it's happening. For her ice tail attacks like at 2:04, when not enraged she'll do it twice, when enraged (red icon on mini map) she will do it three times. If you angle the foresight slash properly, you can *usually* avoid this attack and get a spirit gauge upgrade, try and stand under her when she does this move, depending on if she does one of the variants, you can avoid it by just doing that, also aim your foresight slash like that, maybe. YMMV, it's risky, sometimes I get hit. Also when enraged she will do her vertical sweeping ice beam twice, be careful!! Listen for that sound at 2:14, it's unique as well, just keep moving to avoid the falling icicles, simple enough. When enraged she drops 3 instead of 2. Sometimes, like at 2:17 she will jump in the air and use tail attacks. Keep an eye out for her breath attack, the one at 2:25, she will almost always land after doing that. If she does that move and doesn't land, she will always do the, like, ice ring move, which is the one at 3:08, again, pretty unique sound cue there. For the ice ring move like at 3:08, look at the ground and position yourself in between the ice rings. Personally I stand outside of the center, but still nearby, wait for the explosion, and then roll towards the center as soon as it happens. The move at 3:14 is extremely dangerous. Always try to recognize when she does this, the sound she makes and how she moves backwards. Your two viable options here is to sheathe and run towards her or sheathe and dive away. This move can kill you pretty easily, so be very careful. When running towards her, if you can't hide behind her head to avoid the move, try to roll through the beam. Also keep in mind, all of her ice beam moves can trigger an explosion on the frosty areas, like what I got hit by at 3:19, keep it in mind!!! The tail move at 3:45 is tricky. If you're not close or far enough away from her, you're in a dangerous spot. Try to dodge through it, and/or towards/away from her. Her charge at 4:01 will lead into one of two sort of "states" One where she runs far away, and does the sweeping ice beam, or the other where she stops near you and starts doing tail moves. Be ready for either. I like the move at 4:09, as long as you see it coming. Pretty slow, and mostly easy to punish. Good luck! You can do it!!! 😄 0:00 Equipment and Items 1:24 Velkhana Hunt 6:16 Area Change 1/4 10:05 Area Change 2/4 14:47 Area Change 3/4 17:39 Area Change 4/4 21:36 Quest Cleared! -- https://www.patreon.com/HeadHunter455 If you'd like to help support the channel, I'd greatly appreciate it. https://discord.gg/3fPadNa Feel free to join my discord server. https://twitter.com/headhunter455 Follow me on twitter for updates and stale memes.
