Hello Tomorrow's video: Artificial Intelligence and Human Accountability I Joanna Bryson Professor at Bath University

@Artificial Intelligence and Human Accountability I Joanna Bryson, Professor at Bath University
Although not a universally held goal, maintaining human control of artificial intelligence is probably essential for society’s long-term stability. Fortunately, the legal and technological problems of maintaining control are actually fairly well understood and amenable to engineering. The real problem is establishing the social and political will for assigning and maintaining accountability for artefacts when these artefacts are generated or used. In this talk I will discuss why we should maintain not only control but responsibility for AI, whether we have control now, and what technological and regulatory steps we can take to improve the present situation for the benefit of the very long term. Joanna Bryson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing at the University of Bath. Hello Tomorrow is a global organisation dedicated to leveraging deep technologies to help solve world challenges. Through our Global startup Challenge, which has had 18,000 applications from over 100 countries since 2014, we identify deeptech solutions by partnering with universities and research labs. We empower the pioneers who drive these solutions and connect them with industry leaders, investors, researchers and regulators through conferences and networking events in 11 countries. In addition to facilitating a global deeptech ecosystem, we offer consulting services to help companies integrate deep tech into their strategies, enable their organisation to adapt to faster and more open innovation, and train them to be more agile.
