Heping1's video: Shaolin Show 2001 at Tagou Wuxiao

This video was recorded during our training trip to Tagou Wuxiao near the Shaolin Temple in August 2001. This was the last time I went there for training as it was obvious to me that the degradation of the Martial Arts at Shaolin, Dengfeng and the surrounding areas has come to a point of no return. On this last trip there we were asked to watch a rehearsal of the upcoming Shaolin Tour through Europe and some of the foreigners including some of us were asked also to perform there (it was the only demo in my Wushu life I really screwed up). The only guy with some skills in this whole show was Zhang Wensheng, the Head Coach of the School (performing with Meteor Hammer/ Liu Xing Chui). By watching this video again we can also see the main problem of these shows: they were promoting Shaolinquan without Shaolinquan. A kind of deception that becomes more and more common concerning Chinese Martial Arts.
