In this video we take at a method to use an oscilloscope to do a go/no-go type of test. This was discovered after a C128 I was working with dies right before my eyes. Imagine my surprise when I found the crystal had died. We are of course performing this test with the C64 powered OFF. I made use of the techniques we have covered so far in the ‘Troubleshooting Vintage Computers’ series to quickly track the problem down to a missing clock and then finally to a dead crystal.
