The Milesian school was where ancient Greek philosophy began. For this reason alone it would be worthy of study and rememberance, but that would be to neglect the other contributions it has made to history and, as a result, the modern day. The primary philosophers of this school (Thales, Anaximander & Anaximenes) advanced astronomy dramatically and theorised on what constituted all things - one of the main functions of the scientific field of physics. These doctrines were the building blocks on which future philosophical schools built, including the atomist school.
