What a controversial topic! Everyone seems to have an opinion which many times leads to a heated discussion on whether the correct form to say Spanish is español o Castellano. The one we can totally rule out is Espanol, we definitely say español :) The thing is that internationally speaking when we literally translate Spanish from other languages español is the language that comes up. But in the Spanish world, both terms (español and castellano) are used to talk about the Spanish language. So which one should you use? What countries say español? What countries say castellano? is it castellano in Spain and español in Latin America? All this will be easily explained in this online Spanish class. In today's Spanish lesson I'll talk about the history of the language, I'll show you where the confusion is and teach you which countries use which variation. And the BEST part. This Spanish video lesson is all in Spanish, the explanation is all in Spanish so you can practice your Spanish listening comprehension skills.
