It's all DIY elk hunting in over the counter units on public land for me. As a DIY Hunter find it very freeing to act on my own instinct without the input or the thought of other hunters and it's a way for me to "get away". I have found over the years this is when I am the most free and also the most successful. Recently, I started self-filming my hunts and during the 2019 Colorado Archery Elk Season, I was able to call in a dozen or more bulls on video. On this particular hunt, I replay the day I had a chance at an OTC public land monster. I walk you through how I located this bull all the way down to the moment I challenge bugle him into 17 yards and boy does he come in screaming! This is a great example of how to call elk and elk calling. Everything went perfect until the shot when my arrow hit a branch deflecting it. I recount what I would have done differently with the shot at the end of the video, but one thing is for sure it will never get old bugling bulls into 17 yards!
