Hometowns And Heroes's video: Fort Mandan North Dakota Bodmer Art

@Fort Mandan, North Dakota, Bodmer Art
David Borlaug, President, Fort Mandan Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center Foundation, is our "hero" as he is a true expert on the history surrounding Lewis and Clark and all the following sections of the Interpretive Center which he has set up and oversees: Lewis & Clark Gallery Newly-installed exhibits at the Interpretive Center immerse you in the journey of the Lewis & Clark Expedition with sound and interactive displays. The new exhibits include over 100 items from the John Fisher Collection that represent items Lewis & Clark used on the expedition, including one of only six working air rifles in the world. Our Agrarian Heritage Learn the story of agriculture in North Dakota beginning with Our First Farmers and leading up to present-day agriculture. This includes a brand-new kiosk that preserves the history of farming in a searchable database of Centennial Farms in North Dakota that is continually updated. Prince Maximilian and Karl Bodmer Exhibit Completed April 2013, our newest exhibit tells the story of the German Prince Maximilian and Swiss artist Karl Bodmer, two Europeans who traveled through the American frontier from 1832 to 1834 to document the lives of American Indians. A contemporary collection of Karl Bodmer's aquatints - one of only four in the world - is also on display. Visitors can create and purchase their own souvenir aquatints in the new interactive art kiosk. Brush Scholar: The Lewis & Clark Art of Michael Haynes Haynes's paintings of Lewis and Clark subjects for the bicentennial of the Expedition (2003-2006) not only changed how Americans picture the Expedition, but also raised the standards of historic art with his intense grounding in research.
