Sora encounters both Riku and Kairi at the end of the path, however, as soon as he reaches out towards them, they're suddenly replaced by some other girl and guy. Not knowing who they are, they both reach out towards Sora, calling him "Ven", and before he can even think about the situation, they're walking away from him. After turning back into Riku and Kairi, Sora rushes after his friend but can't seem to catch up, and just when he thinks all is lost he suddenly remembers a memory from his childhood, where a lady talked to both him and Riku about friendship. Suddenly, the girl disappears and turns into Ansem before blowing Sora away. After crash-landing back where he was, he sees Xigbar who tells him that they put him asleep, or in a dream within a dream. Xemnas shows up, and together with Xigbar, they tell him all about their plan. However, even knowing that the Keyblade didn't choose him, Sora is happy that he gets to be a part of the people it did choose. Enraged, Xigbar races off, leaving Xemnas to deal with Sora. With the power of his friends, Sora once more draws his Keyblade against Xemnas!
