Hornet King's video: Bald Faced Hornet Nest - Rise and Fall of an Empire - Spider Kills Wasp

This Bald Faced Hornet (Dolichovespula Maculata) queen founded her nest on my parent's shed and I was tracking her progress for over 5 days. She opportunistically acquires cellulose from dead wood (in this case firewood and bird houses) and chews the cellulose off the surface of the wood, and mashes it up in her mandibles (pincers), mixing the strands with her saliva, and flies back her nest and molds that paste into paper. Once she is done spreading a line of paper, she checks on the larvae, and right back out to either hunt or collect more cellulose. This queen met her demise at the opportunity of a stealthy spider, then the nest was removed and the larvae were fed to demonstrate how the queen feeds them. Since the colony wouldnt survive this early loss of their mother, I decided to donate their lives to benefit more life. Miss Emily had her very first exposure to wasp nest, and she instinctively knew exactly what to do. Nature is amazing! Thank you to all whom have donated to the channel!
